High-Build, Medium-Weight, High-Strength Structural Repair Mortar

Penapatch HB50 is a high-strength, high-build, medium-weight polymer-modified cementitious repair mortar designed for demanding concrete restoration applications. Its shrinkage-compensated formulation combines high ultimate compressive strength, high abrasion resistance and strong adhesion to suitable concrete and masonry substrates.

Formulated with specially selected cements and polymers, Penapatch HB50 provides extremely low shrinkage and relatively low density, making it suitable for substantial concrete repairs where durability, dimensional stability and structural performance are important.

Designed for vertical and horizontal applications, Penapatch HB50 can be used to repair damaged concrete panels, spalled concrete and deteriorated concrete associated with reinforcing steel corrosion. Its low-permeability characteristics also help resist the ingress of chlorides and carbon dioxide.

Penapatch HB50 requires the addition of water only, providing a convenient, pre-bagged solution for professional concrete repair projects.

Key Features and Benefits

  • High-build repair capability: Designed for substantial concrete repairs in a single application, subject to the specified thickness and application conditions.

  • High ultimate compressive strength: Suitable for demanding concrete repair applications requiring high strength.

  • Medium-weight formulation: Relatively low density compared with conventional heavier repair mortars.

  • High abrasion resistance: Suitable for repair areas exposed to mechanical wear.

  • Shrinkage compensated: Extremely low shrinkage helps support long-term dimensional stability.

  • Low permeability: Helps resist chloride ingress and carbonation.

  • Strong substrate adhesion: Exceptional bond strength to suitable concrete substrates.

  • Excellent workability: Supports efficient placement and finishing.

  • Chloride-free formulation: Contains no chlorides.

  • Flexible application methods: Can be applied by dry or wet processes in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Reduced formwork requirements: May eliminate the need for formwork in suitable repair configurations.

  • Protective coating compatibility: May be coated with suitable products from the Aftek protective coating range.

  • Consistent quality: Pre-bagged material helps minimise variation associated with on-site batching.

  • Internal and external use: Suitable for a range of concrete repair environments.

Recommended Applications

Penapatch HB50 is designed for high-build concrete repair projects where strength, durability and dimensional stability are important.

Recommended uses include:

  • High-build repairs to vertical and horizontal concrete surfaces.

  • Suitable overhead concrete repairs in accordance with the manufacturer's application requirements.

  • Concrete repairs requiring high ultimate compressive strength.

  • Structural repairs to damaged concrete panels.

  • Repairs to spalled or deteriorated concrete associated with reinforcement corrosion.

  • Vertical repairs from 5 mm to 80 mm, subject to product instructions.

  • Vertical repairs up to 120 mm in small pockets or with the aid of suitable formwork, as specified by the manufacturer.

  • Concrete repairs where low permeability is required.

  • Repairs requiring enhanced resistance to chloride ingress and carbonation.

  • Concrete restoration in suitable industrial, commercial and infrastructure environments.

High-Build Performance for Durable Concrete Restoration

Deteriorated concrete can compromise the integrity and durability of concrete structures, particularly where reinforcing steel is exposed to moisture and aggressive substances. Penapatch HB50 is designed to restore damaged concrete using a high-build, polymer-modified mortar with high compressive strength, strong adhesion and shrinkage-compensated performance.

Its medium-weight formulation and high-build capabilities support substantial repairs, while its low-permeability characteristics help reduce the ingress of chlorides and carbon dioxide.

For repairs involving reinforcement corrosion or structural damage, assess the underlying cause, reinforcement condition and required structural performance before selecting the repair system.
