Project Update - BHP Wind Fences, Port Hedland – Jan 2024

BHP recently spearheaded the groundbreaking Pilbara Air Quality Program, unveiling Australia's inaugural wind fences at the Nelson Point and Finucane Islands operations.

Spanning over two kilometres and standing up to 29m high, these massive wind fences are an impressive structure, featuring 169 main columns and almost 2,900 tonnes of steel. Costing more than $130 Million, the fences commenced construction in August 2022 and have been meticulously designed to combat dust emissions in the region.

Safari Group played a crucial role in this transformative project, supplying the lead contractor essential materials for the construction, including:
